Readers’ Review on Runaway Vampire by Lynsay Sands

I hate to see this series end but maybe it is time. I haven’t read anything good in the series since Christian’s story in Under a Vampire Moon. Bricker’s story in About a Vampire, it seems I had waited for forever and it was a major disappointment. This book “Runaway Vampire” had the potential for a pretty good story but was so boring I skimmed through most of the book. I felt cheated that Ms. Sands seems to have lost her usual great writing. The older books in the series are great, but I think she is trying to write so many in the series that she is losing the freshness. Each new story is different characters but the same things keep happening and I am so tired of half of the book being about the explanation of the nanos and what life mates are. When you read this in each book it really is getting annoying. Please try and explain in a few sentences and not throughout the book. I am sure the so called life mate does not need that much detail to get the picture.

I’ve read this series from the beginning, and on the whole the stories have been excellent. I love the humor. Vampire romance often takes itself too seriously. However, this latest book in the Argeneau series just isn’t very interesting. I found that I didn’t come to care about either of the two main characters. I would skip this one in favor of reading (or re-reading) the earlier books and hope the next one will be better.

Dante & his twin have intrigued me from their first appearance in this series. They’re always together & always eating massive quantities of food to sustain their 6’8″ frames, sure. But they’ve always been the go-to helpers. While Bricker has always been the comic of the series, Dante & Tomasso have been quieter, but still highly amusing.

In this installment, the twins have been kidnapped, and Dante literally runs into his lifemate’s vehicle while escaping the kidnappers. Mary’s taking her RV out for one last cross country trip before retiring the behemoth, deciding she doesn’t want to take this traditional trip alone anymore.
